Hardhats and Santa Hats: Spreading Cheer to Children this Holiday Season

The Hagerman Group recently donated two truckloads of toys to the St. Vincent Foundation, delivering them to the Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

On Dec. 14, Hagerman team members gathered toys from five locations where The Hagerman Group employees, subcontractors and tradespeople had donated toys since late November. Toy collection locations included the Hagerman Group’s Fishers office; St. Vincent Heart Center, where Hagerman is renovating the imaging department on the fourth floor; St. Vincent 86th Street Pharmacy Renovation; St. Vincent Women’s Hospital Renovation; and the William K. Nasser, MD Healthcare Education and Simulation Center Hagerman is building on St. Vincent’s 86th Street campus.

According to Jay Bangert, project executive at The Hagerman Group, “We wanted to find something we could do for St. Vincent that was more than just writing a check and that provided a sense of ownership with our project teams. All the toys collected from the project sites mainly came from the craftsmen and women themselves. It was great hearing some of the stories at our bi-weekly progress meetings of how they shopped with their own children and made it a family event. That really shows they are here to do more than just renovate a building.”

“For these kids to be in the hospital and for parents to have children in the hospital over the holidays is tough,” said Roger Meyer, who works on Hagerman’s St. Vincent projects and serves as superintendent for the William K Nasser Education Center. “This toy drive is not only just Hagerman. It’s all of our contractors who’ve come together to deliver these toys to children during the holidays so we can bring some cheer in their lives.”

“Many thanks to the Hagerman employees, subcontractors and tradespeople,” said Jeff Hagerman, chairman of The Hagerman Group. “It’s been amazing to see the commitment provided by our tradespeople and the toys that they’ve been bringing in over the last month. A lot of children are going to have a lot of smiles on their faces this holiday season thanks to them.”
