Veterans National Memorial Shrine & Museum Awarded 2022 Concrete Achievement Award

The Veterans National Memorial Shrine & Museum in Fort Wayne was awarded the 2022 Concrete Achievement Award by the Indiana Ready Mixed Concrete Association for Excellence in Concrete Construction! The award was presented on January 17 in Indianapolis to Commander Greg Bedford, Hagerman Director of Field Operations Chris Harmon, and Hagerman Project Foreman Shawn Hacker.

The Veterans National Memorial Shrine & Museum – located at 2122 O’Day Road –  is home to an 80 percent replica of the original Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, located in Washington, D.C. The wall is 360 feet long and nine feet high at its tallest point. Its base and walls are made of solid concrete with anodized aluminum panels attached to its face. In total, there are 72 panels containing the 58,320 names of fallen heroes of the Vietnam War. An eight foot wide concrete sidewalk runs along the structure. Nine flags fly above the wall; they are continuously lit by either the sun or solar lighting. Six wooden benches face the wall for visitors to sit and reflect.

The award honors Hagerman, Viridian Architectural Design, Inc., Structural Engineering Services, and Irving Materials, Inc.
