Little Hardhats program visits Union Center Elementary School

The Hagerman Institute of Learning, led by Sarah Walker, Director, and Katie Snarski, Training Coordinator, recently hosted a Hagerman Institute Little Hardhats Student Engagement event at Union Center Elementary School in Valparaiso, Ind.

The program engaged approximately 400 students from kindergarten through fifth grade, helping them understand the current Union Center Expansion project and introducing them to the many possible careers in construction.

Events included a masonry wall demonstration; a game show about construction, construction careers, and the Union Center Expansion; safety demonstrations; craft projects; and tours of the project site.

In addition to Sarah and Katie, Hagerman participants included Jacob Becker, Safety Manager; Jim Goheen, Superintendent; Nikki Holt, Assistant Project Manager; Willie Miller, Masonry Estimator; Brad Neuhaus, Senior Project Manager; Mike Vaughan, Project Superintendent; and Stephanie Veit, Business Development Manager.
