Years ago, when Angela Smith was seeking information about company benefits for her family, her experience led to an epiphany. She decided to pursue a career in human resources, where she could listen to employees and their families and help them understand an organization’s offerings in a caring and compassionate manner. “I lead with my heart,” Angela says. “I care for people and want to help them feel better about the jobs they do on a daily basis.”

After 10 years leading human resources for a large healthcare organization, Angela joined The Hagerman Group, connecting with our core values and the fact “the company wants to do right by their people while providing the best solution for customers.”

Angela focuses on both big picture strategy as well as the operations of programs that help recruit and develop team members and advance the culture. She appreciates the opportunity to create and manage the Hagerman HR department while building relationships with team members. “I love the fact I can go into someone’s office, say, ‘how’s it going?’ and lend an ear,” she says. “My role allows me to focus on each employee’s development.”

Angela and her husband recently became empty nesters, so when she’s not working, she enjoys spending “this new season” with him, as well as volunteering in community activities.
